Bridging AI Regulation - Towards a Global Governance for Ethical AI
Around the globe, efforts to regulate AI have been undertaken to manage the potential risks of AI and ensure that AI is developed and deployed in a safe, transparent and trustworthy manner. This includes the EU's AI Act, President Biden's Executive Order, and international initiatives such as the Bletchley Declaration on AI Safety and discussions in forums such as the G7(+), G20, UN, and OECD.
In regard to AI regulation, the “West” and its partners face the challenge of simultaneously leading as well as integrating to prevent autocratic states from exporting their value model via technological standards.
In this event, experts from politics, business, academia, and civil society will discuss the importance of democratic values for AI applications and how a common understanding of the basic regulatory framework can be achieved at the international level.
The event is part of the “AITech Dialogues: AI for Sustainable and Just Societies” series of in-person discussion events that Aspen Germany is hosting in cooperation with Microsoft Berlin to address existing and emerging AI technologies, particularly with regard to ethical considerations of their impact and the governance required.
